Happiness is a Moral Obligation
We owe it to ourselves and others to be happy. Most people believe that happiness can only be found in other people or things. The key to being happy can only be found in ourselves.
Because your happiness positively affects others and your unhappiness negatively affects others. Negative people are known to be positive energy vampires. Negative people can have a significant impact on how we view life. As true as this is, the opposite is true, too. Positive people can have a significant impact on how we think, feel and do.
Happiness is Not Easy
Unhappiness is easy. It is not a natural state because our natural state, from cradle to grave, is one of constant struggle to survive and thrive. Happiness takes effort. One must want to be happy and do happy things to become happy.
Easy way is often the wrong way because it tends to be self-serving.
Happiness is a great reward for hard work. Think about it. We appreciate things more when we make sacrifices for them.
Your Mind is Central to Happiness
Happiness requires thought. We must actively think about being happy first. Our thoughts drive our feelings and our actions.
Happiness requires self-discipline. Because it is not our natural tendency to be happy, we must make it a daily habit.
A good rule to follow is ask yourself: "Will this make me happier or unhappier?" RATHER THAN "Will this bring me the most pleasure at this moment?"
